Maxim’s Museum

The collection of furniture and Art Nouveau items collected by the great fashion designer Pierre Cardin is exhibited in a “Belle Epoque” Parisian apartment.

The museum is located above the restaurant Maxim’s on the Rue Royale, between La Concorde and La Madeleine.

Jeu de Paume

Located in the Tuileries Garden, the “Jeu de Paume” hosts exhibitions of photography, cinema, video, and installations from the 19th to the 21st century.

The building was built in 1862 during the reign of Napoleon III to house courts for playing “real tennis”, the ancestor of modern tennis.

Opera Museum

The Opera Museum (Bibliothèque-Musée de l’Opéra, Paris 9th) permanently exhibits a selection of documents and objects among the 800,000 that it conserves : paintings, sculptures, models of sets, archives on the architecture of the Palais Garnier and on the shows put on by the Academy of Music and Dance over the last three centuries.

The visit of the Opera Museum is included in the global visit of the Opera Garnier.

The Grévin Museum in the 9th district contains some 200 wax reproductions of famous celebrities.

Orangerie Museum

Since the Musée de l’Orangerie’s reopening in May 2006, one can rediscover in natural daylight the paintings known as the Nymphéas (the Water Lilies) by the impressionist artist Claude Monet.

There are two compelling reasons to visit l’Orangerie : Claude Monet’s Nymphéas (the Water Lilies), and the superb Jean Walter and Paul Guillaume collection which comprises 146 works, from the 1860s to the 1930s. This collection includes beautiful works by impressionist artists as Renoir, Cézanne… as well as works from the 20th century by Derain, Soutine, Picasso, Matisse, Utrillo…

The Louvre’s collection covers Western art from the medieval period to 1848, works from the civilisations of the ancient world, and works of Islamic art.
Artworks dating from 7^th millennium BC to the 1850s are displayed on 5 levels in 3 interconnecting wings named Richelieu, Sully and Denon.

The Pavillon de l’Horloge presents an introduction to the history of the Louvre palace and to the museum collections.
An other way to begin to visit The Louvre is the Petite Galerie : every year, from October to June, the Petite Galerie proposes a new theme as a starting point for an exploration of the Louvre museum.

The Decorative Arts Museum is located in a wing of the Louvre Palace on the rue de Rivoli.

It houses Decorative Arts from the Middle Ages to modern times, including sections on Fashion and Textiles, Toys, Advertising, Graphic Arts, and the Jewelry Gallery.

More than 6000 pieces of the museum’s collections are displayed.
