Liberation of Paris Museum – Jean Moulin Museum

The Museum (Mémorial du général Leclerc et de la Libération de Paris – Musée Jean Moulin) traces the action of “three companions of the Liberation” during the Second World War: General Leclerc Hauteclocque, head of the 2nd DB, Jean Moulin, leader of the Resistance and the City of Paris.

The Museum closed its doors to the public on July 1, 2018 to prepare for its move to new buildings, Place Denfert-Rochereau (Paris 14th). The inauguration of the new museum is scheduled for August 25, 2019.

Pasteur Museum

The museum is located in the “Institut Pasteur”, in the apartment where Louis Pasteur lived with his family during the last years of his life.
The visit includes the laboratory with scientific instruments, the family apartment and the crypt in which Pasteur and his wife are buried.

The Pasteur museum is closed to individual visits. Only guided group tours are organized, and only upon reservation, at least 3 months in advance. Contact: musee@pasteur.fr

Villa Marie Vassilieff

The Villa Vassilieff, inaugurated in February 2016, is a cultural space offering exhibitions and artist residencies.
It is located in the former villa of the Russian painter and sculptor Marie Vassilieff in the cul-de-sac of the Chemin de Montparnasse.

The entrance is free and you can come to visit an exhibition, interact with an artist or just have a coffee.

Cartier Foundation for contemporary art

The Foundation (Paris 14th) organizes several exhibitions of contemporary art every year, monographic and thematic exhibitions with international artists. It is open to all forms of contemporary creation : paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations, music, design, video and cinema.

The Foundation occupies a glass and metal building designed by the famous architect Jean Nouvel.
It is only opened during exhibitions.

Bourdelle Museum

The museum exhibits the works of the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) in the apartments and studios surrounding by two gardens, where he lived and worked for many years. The collection includes sculptures – plaster casts, bronzes, marbles, stone, clay and stoneware – and also Bourdelle’s drawings and photographs.

Monumental sculptures are displayed in the gardens.

The museum is located in the Montparnasse district (Paris 15th).

The Catacombs

The Catacombs (Paris 14th) were established in the galleries of former quarries: the visit follows a whole course of galleries and corridors 20 meters underground.

The Catacombs contain the largest ossuary in the world gathering the remains of millions of Parisians.

They are open until 20:30 and less crowded towards the evening (the ticket office closes at 19:30).
