The Museum (Archives nationales de Paris) presents the history of French state archives with a selection of historical documents that made up the history of France. For example, it shows the last letter written by Marie Antoinette before her beheading and the Edit de Nantes.

Housed in the Hotel de Soubise and opened to the public in 1867, the “Archives nationales” museum was created by Léon de Laborde then general director of the archives of the Empire.

Musée en herbe

The Musée en Herbe has been located at 23 rue de l’Arbre-Sec – Paris 1st since February 2016.

Police Museum

Organized by theme, the Police museum (Musée de la préfecture de Police ) traces the history of the Parisian police from the 17th century to the present day and highlights the evolution of various types of policing.

The Police museum is located on the third floor of the police station of the 5th district of Paris, Rue de la Montagne-Sainte-Genevieve.

Entry to the museum is free.

Museum of the History of Medicine

The museum, whose collections are the oldest in Europe (including chirurgical instruments dating back to the 18th century), is devoted to the history of medicine, medical progress and advances in the discipline.

It is housed in an old library of Paris-Descartes University dating from 1905, in the 6th district of Paris.

Gallery of Évolution

With more than 7000 specimens, most of which are preserved by taxidermy, the Gallery of Evolution displays the amazing biodiversity of nature.

Many interesting exhibitions are organized each year.

The Gallery of Evolution (Grande Galerie de l’Evolution), located in the Jardin des Plantes – Paris 5th, is one of the sites ot the National Museum of Natural History.

Cinema museum

The Museum is the place to discover the history of cinema, also known as the Seventh art. It contains a selection of objects and archives dating from the early days of cinema through the present.
There are interesting temporary exhibitions and a broad program of international film screenings and retrospectives.

The Museum of Cinema is in the French Cinematheque, in a building designed by Frank Gehry, in the Bercy Park.

Gallery of Mineralogy

The collections at the Gallery of Mineralogy and Geology (attached to the National Museum of Natural History, Jardin des Plantes) are among the oldest in the world.

They include Martian meteorites, giant crystals, rocks and minerals, all precious specimens that tell the story of the Earth and the solar system. They are on show in the Treasures of the Earth exhibition.

Hôtel national des Invalides

The Hôtel National des Invalides site (Paris 7th) is open to the public every day of the year.

The visitors can find here a lot of places of interest : three museums – the Army museum, the museum of the Order of the Liberation and the Relief map museum – as well as The Dome (tomb of Napoleon) and the Saint-Louis Cathedral.
It gives access to different departments of the permanent collections such as From Saint Louis to Louis XIV, From Louis XIV to Napoleon III, the extraordinary cabinets, the Historial Charles de Gaulle…

Original temporary exhibitions are also programmed in the museum.

The Paris Mint

The Paris mint museum (Monnaie de Paris – Musée du 11 Conti), which opened in September 2017, offers exhibition rooms and direct views of some of the Mint’s workshops where artisans work. It shows the diversity of the collections of the Paris Mint, and highlights the various trades and skills practiced there.

Large exhibitions of contemporary art are regularly presented at the 11 Conti museum (Paris 6th).
